Wikitude Drive – A GPS With Live Streaming Images

Tired of Garmin, TomTom and other GPS navigation systems? Want something special?

Then you should perhaps consider Wikitude Drive.

Wikitude Drive is a GPS navigation system designed for smartphones. It uses the phone camera to give real images of the road you are driving on. It is called Augmented Reality Navigation.

As a result, whenever you glance on the screen, you see exactly what is on the road LIVE and that means, you have not taken your eyes off the road.

It is so easy to get into an accident when our eyes are off the road. So this new GPS system with the Augmented Reality navigation may help to contribute to a safer drive.

Smartphones Requirements

Not all smartphones can run Wikitude Drive. For the time being, only smartphones using android operating system v. 2.1 – 2.3 can be used.

The hardware requirements are:

  1. Back-Facing Camera
  2. GPS
  3. Accelerometer
  4. Compass
  5. High Resolution Displayor or at least normal

The fact that it acts both as a GPS and a video camera means its processor must also be quite powerful.

So if your smartphone misses any one of those requirements, Wikitude Drive will not work.
