THE NEW SONY GPS DEVICES, the NV-U83T and the NV-U73T, feature dual views and differ from each other in the sizes of screen display: 4.8 inches for NV-U83T and 4.3 inches for NV-U73T.
The screen has a viewing angle of 80-degrees and an anti-glare and anti-fingerprint coating. A sensor automatically adjusts the brightness and color levels of the display.
Other features are gesture command controls, Bluetooth hands-free phone calls, text-to-speech capability, TMC Traffic information, and an Easy Repeat button that allows you to hear the direction again.
POSITION Plus provides uninterrupted guidance even when the GPS signal is low; it offers an approximate location when the unit can’t connect to the GPS satellite. The device uses pressure, gyro and acceleration sensors to calibrate where drivers are so they can safely plan ahead and not miss turns coming out of tunnels or from in-between tall buildings. This is a feature that is becoming popular is GPS devices.
Sony’s new super suction cup mounting system allows the GPS device to be securely mounted on either the windshield or dashboard. The super suction cup is made with a flexible non-adhesive gel that grips the rugged surface of the dashboard so the touch screen can be mounted closer for an easier reach. It is designed to stay put even in the most extreme temperatures, yet can be easily removed and transferred to another vehicle.
The Sony NV-U83T and NV-U73T have 2 GB memory and come pre-loaded with USA, Canada, and Puerto Rico maps (about 5 millions points of interest).
