Japan’s growing elderly population can look forward to robotic help in their golden years. Robots ranging from exoskeleton suits to wheelchair-friendly cars are being developed by the major manufacturers to help keep Japan’s elderly mobile and productive.
A Robocop-like suit has sensors attached to its wearer and detects when muscles are trying to lift something heavy. Air pumps then kick in to provide additional support. Nurses are using this contraption to help them hoist patients on and off their beds.
