Housing market in the US crumbles. Gas price skyrockets. Staple food prices soar up. Automobile manufacturing plants are shutting down. Financial institutions are struggling to keep afloat.
There’s no doubt that the economy is not in the best of shape. The shadow of recession looms closer and closer. Some are already feeling it and many more may have a fortaste of it very soon. Although we know it is only a temporary thing and the market will bounce back again we should take certain steps to ensure that we minimize its negative impact on us.
What should we do to counter effect the effect of recession?
- Cut off unnecessary expenses
- Drive wisely
- Work harder
- Save for unemployment
Buy only the things we need. Do we really need a new pc? Do we need to eat outside for lunch?
Try to do our shopping on our way back from work instead of doing a shopping errand.
And remember the faster we drive the more gasoline we burn. It might be a good idea to slow down a bit.
One of the most important thing during recession time is to maintain our employment. Companies will start laying people off when a critical point is reached. Although there is no guarantee that we would maintain our job if we work harder employers will often try to keep hard working employees in the payroll.
Although our job may appear secure it can in period of recession become redundant due to the closing of the plant.
Do we have a backup to earn income? Most likely we don’t. Then it is important that we have enough money to keep us through until we get a new job. Mortgage or rent, food and utilities need still to be paid.
Perhaps we should consider making use of our hobbies to earn some income. The best part is it is something we enjoy doing.
These are just some guidelines on how to prepare ourselves for the recession.
