Microsoft unveiled its project Oregami and revealed an ultracompact computer with a 7-inch touch-sensitive screen with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi wireless connectivity. It weighs less than 2 1/2 pounds and is about one inch thick. It runs presently on Windows XP but will support the next generation of Windows OS, the Vista. Although it has a built-in program called Dial Keys that allows input to be typed or thumbed in a keyboard can be attached to it through one of its USB port.

It has a 60 GB hard drive. Some units include SecureDigital Card and CompactFlash memory card slots with jacks for connecting digital cameras, headphones and speakers. The battery will run for about 2.5 hours.

Presently three companies manufacture the hardware, Samsung, Asus and Founder.
Expected retail price: $600 to $1,000.
