The Nokia N97 has been unveiled and is being billed as ‘world’s most advanced mobile computer’.

Nokia hopes it will outclass the iPhone and the BlackBerry and revitalize its market share.

Nokia claim the phone makes it easy to update social networks automatically with real-time information, giving approved friends the ability to update their ‘status’ and share their ‘social location’ as well as related pictures or videos.

The Nokia N97 features both a large touchscreen and a hidden keyboard, which slides out from under the screen, allowing users to type emails and text messages.

The 3.5in touchscreen display can be fully personalised with frequently updated widgets of favorite web services and social networking sites.

The phone includes a GPS and a five-megapixel camera. It has 48GB of memory.

The N97 will also be able to play Flash videos.

Will the Nokia N97 be able to detrone iPhone from its pedestal?

In spite of its superior features The Nokia N97 remains just a typical smartphone and lacks the “cool” factor, which sparks enthusiasm.

For Nokia N97 to compete successfully against iPhone and Blackberry it should price itself way below them, something which is unlikely to happen.
