iPhone is undoubtly the most popular smartphone in the world and Navigon by introducing a version of its on-board navigation software for the iPhone has propulsed itself from the lime light to be on par with Garmin and TomTom GPS navigators.
Instead of forking out $200 or more for a GPS navigator an iPhone user can have the same Navigon GPS features for only $70 or $100 when the promotion ends.
The advantage with Navigon is that there are no subscrition fees and map updates are free for life.
Navigon’s special feature is its Reality View Pro, which displays photo-realistic 3D views with actual road signs and lane guidance for virtually every highway interchange and exit.
The Lane Assistant Pro feature helps drivers prepare to make an upcoming exit or turn by providing a lane map complete with arrows and actual road geometry.
Using iPhone integrated feature the map display switches automatically from portrait to landscape view when the iPhone is turned 90 degrees.
Thanks to the multi touch function of the iPhone the map view can be zoomed in and out using the two fingers.
During the phone conversation the navigation display will cease and will resume automatically after the call has ended.
The Direct Access feature allows navigation to contacts saved in the iPhone’s address book.
The Navigon application was ranked within the top three of all paid applications in the Apple Store in the first week.
