Everyone hates lawyers it seems, even in idyllic Seychelles archipelago, which just completed their presidential race Sunday.
Seychelles is a series of small islands in the Indian Ocean, known for its white beaches, famously shaped cocunuts, palm trees, coral reefs, and preserved nature. In short, paradise, or as close as you can get to one here on Earth.
The incumbent, James Michel, was re-elected as President with just less than 54 percent of the 56,000 votes cast. His party will now have been in power for 30 years, uninterrupted.
The second candidate, Wavel Ramkalawan, finished close with just under 46 percent votes. He is, by the way, an Anglican priest. I guess there’s not much to do in paradise.
It’s the third candidate we want to draw attention to. Lawyer Philippe Boulle got 0.6 percent.
Which goes to show that lawyers, even in paradise, are not much liked.
