Taking digital pictures is easy and able to view them instantly on your camera is great.

But what could be a hassle is the transfer of the pictures onto the PC. If you do not have a USB cable which connects to your digital camera then you would have to take out your memory card and insert it in your PC which hopefully has a memory card slot.

Elderly people prefer the old conventional camera where they do not have to fumble around to get their pictures printed.

Some digital cameras have Bluetooth or WiFi capabilities which enables transfer of pictures to a PC wirelessly. It makes it easy to get the pictures on the PC without doing anything.

However most digital cameras do not have these functions. But it can still be done by using a wireless SD memory card.

Eye-Fi introduced the first wireless SD memory card for digital cameras. It enables pictures to be transferred to a PC using the WiFi network at home.

With the Eye-Fi Explore it adds geographic location tags to each picture using Skyhook’s global Wi-Fi Positioning System.

The memory capacity of those SD cards are 2 GB. Since pictures could be transfered automatically at any WiFi hotspots the content of the SD card could be deleted and reused again. So you will never run out of memory.

What is interesting is using the wireless SD memory card in your PDA. Whatever file you wish to transfer to your PC or to your website can be done by saving it on the card. It will then be transferred automatically.

The next step would be to have a SD card which can also receive data wirelessly through WiFi. Then the digital camera would become a communication tool.
