Is it possible to become the number one website?

Your website might not become the no.1 website but it might gain so much in popularity that you might have a problem with your bandwidth and may have to pay more to keep it online.

You probably heard of Search Engine Optimization. One of the key factor in search engine optimization is to ensure you use the key words a number of times and regardless whether they make sense or not the search engines would eventually pick them up and conclude you know what you are talking about.

So the longer your article is and the more frequent the key words are mentioned there is a great chance your site will come out among the tops.

Does it mean, if we keep repeating, this is the best website or this is the top website, this is the number one website as we are doing now, the search engines like Google, Yahoo, Ask or Bing would be so stupid that they will really believe it?

Yes and no! The search engines do automatically record key words but they have other algorithms that would sort out those key words so that they would make some sense.

By just writing, this is the best website in the world, this is the number one website or the top website twenty times will fool the search engines to a certain extent. The problem is that those repeated words need to be spaced from the beginning to the end of the article. They cannot be located at a specific spot. The search engines would then conclude you are trying to deceive them and would rank your article lower.

Some suggested writing those keywords in white and in the smallest font so that they do not appear when people read the article but will be detected by the search engines.

The problem is that the search engines algorithm will wonder why certain words are written in white and may even ban your website from their search.

We need to ask, why should our website be no.1? What differentiate our website from other similar websites?

Why should people come to our website? What does it offer that other websites do not have?

The answer is content. If we can provide information others do not have or provide it in such a way it is easy to understand or to access then people would flock to it.

Internet is basically a highway of information. That is why search engines portals are so popular. As a website we are a content provider. If our content are accurate and helpful our website would be linked to by other websites.

This leads us to the second and perhaps most important factor to the popularity of a website: LINKS

In the first aspect we have a control over influencing the search engines by using and repeating the key words.

These are blatant examples on trying to influence the search engines directly and they work to a certain degree. The fact you are reading this means you have been looking for ways on how to make your website no.1 and have been directed to this website by the search engines.

With links this is not so much in our control. Others make the decision whether to link their websites to ours or not. We can ask them for links but there is no guarantee they will agree. They will only link if your website offers something they like or somehow complements their websites.

Some resort to links exchange. I give you a link and you give me a link. This also works to a certain degree. Usually the websites with the lowest ranking benefit most from that.

It is important to link with a website with a higher ranking to be effective. Linking with a website with no related content might lead the search engines to believe you are trying to buy links and consequently has no value.

Some SEO companies offer to make your website the number one website by providing links. They already have a number of high ranking websites and by linking them to yours your ranking will automatically go up. You however need to pay a monthly fee and when you stop all the links will be removed and you will find yourself at the bottom again. Of course hopefully by that time you will have acquired other links.

Search engines do not like links purchase and will rank your site lower if discovered. If you are desperate and are willing to pay for the links you might for a while enjoy high traffic but will eventually fall to hard reality when the fund runs out.

How can I make my website the no.1?

Be passionate about your website. Your website or blog should deal about something you love and are most passionate about. Then it becomes easy to write about it.

The key is to deal with a specific item and to go as deeply as possible. Trying to deal with a vast subject will make it hard for you to cover it deeply. It is always possible to expand if needed.

Your websites may have only a few pages but if the content is unique you will have a lot of links and become the no.1 website.
