NOW THAT HIGH-DEFINITION TV is going to be the norm, an HDMI cable would be essential to get it connected to other devices like cable box, DVD player, etc…

Should you buy the expensive Monster brand? Or will a cheap unknown brand do?

Since the transmission is digital and not analog there is no significant data loss or distortion. As long as the connection is good, i.e not loose, at both ends the transmission should be very good.

Cnet tested different brands of HDMI cables and could not detect any meaningful difference. A $10 HDMI cable is as good as a $50 one.

We have been using HDMI cables which cost $1 after mail-in-rebate and we found the quality of the images to be good. We doubt if a pricey cable would improve the image and sound substantially.

Probably the differences between an expensive HDMI cable and a cheap one might be evident if the results are scrutinized but to most people the differences will not be perceptible.

Spotshoppingguide recommends buying a cheap HDMI cable unless money is not an issue.
