Driving a vehicle can be expensive with the constantly soaring gas price. When we have to fill up we would probably keep an eye on gas stations to see which one offers the best price.

Yet there is a way to obtain 10 to 20% discount at any gas station. Wouldn’t you consider it a bargain if the price of gas at a station is only 0.68 cents a litre instead of 0.85 cents (0.17 cents cheaper - 20% discount)?

How is that possible? It is actually very simple.

All we have to do is to drive between 85 to 90 km/h. Our mileage increased by about 20%, assuming we were driving around 110 km/h before. The faster we drive the more gas we consumed.

We have to admit that it is very difficult to drive below 110 km/h on highway. Nevertheless the fact is, we can save on gas if we choose to. Going at 100 km/h instead of 110 km/h will also reduce gas consumption by a few cents per litre. If we have lot of time and we are not blocking traffic circulation we can eventually drop to “econospeed”.

We should also avoid sharp acceleration. Otherwise the gas is expelled out of the engine before it is properly burnt.

Applying those two measures will definitely help you spend less money on gas.
