If you are bored downloading and listening to digital music, surfing the web, sending e-mail, taking pictures, and playing video games, you can now also watch digital TV on your cellphone.
To receive the digital TV signal, phone sets will have to be equpped with a special receiver.
This new service has just recently been introduced for cellphone users in Japan, and consumer response so far has been very good, according to Japan’s mobile carriers. Well, after all, the service there is currently free.
Korea is the first country to offer mobile Digital TV with news, sports, music, games, and comedy and movie channels to its mobile phone users.
Several other countries, including the United Kingdom, have followed suit but using different technologies.
Will the ability to watch their favorite TV channnels anytime anywhere prove to be irresistible to consumers around the world? Mobile carriers hope so.
